Da'Sacred Adulation

ADULATIONS!

I have seen them all
I have
Maidens bare on skin but for the banana's regalia
Oh am I envious of the gossiping breeze
How it rings amid their fortune
Trimming past their seducing bosom
Adaora and Ebibote
I have seen them
Maidens at dawn
Goddesses at twilight
Pagan sculptures at noon
I have seen them all
I have, and even more.

Catapulted echos of the hunter's steel
Ringing past the gentle coiling of Ogun's powder
I go to the Hills, Gascoigne's shrine of fine hunting
Where the rains are soft
The lightning is gentle
The thunder is melodious
You shouldn't bless him so, Ogun
For now, he equates a thousand Oguns
Even him, I have seen.

I heard too in the corners
That a bee's vomit is enthralling
But bitter before a maiden's coil
You have lied
None is sweeter than Rotimi's palmwine
When mixed in wisdom
Perfection served on calabashes of flavour
Oh! I have seen him too
I am greater than the gods
Gods do not see him
I have.

The trotting hums of the village streams are mild
The regime of the formidable twins - Phate and Cas
GozIe, great musician, oh drummer of thoughts
Who drinks wine better than Zeus
Ominipus, the hand that bakes tubers
Tempest, the mountains greet whisper "hello"
Oh! Maryjane
The loveliest heart there is
Osun is jealous
The clouds are jealous
Goddess of children
Mother of mothers
I see you jaré.

Tell me now, oh gods of the earth
Have you seen these
The earth, and the fire
The water and air
Surely
I alone
I alone
Have seen them
I am greater than a thousand
For I see what a thousand do not
Mon juba!
